“Critical thinking” increasingly stands as the most sought-after skill that has long been too fleeting to define. Employers rate it as a pinnacle skill, but one of which they see too little, and educators claim to teach it, but over half of Millennials recently failed a simple Mindedge critical thinking test. So, what is critical thinking? Analysis? Information literacy? Thinking outside the box? Informal logic? Problem-solving? Evaluating data? Decision science? What if all of our efforts to define critical thinking as above have been the core problem with teaching it?

What if, instead of using our brains to devise conceptions of critical thinking, we eliminated the noise and revolutionized a way to teach people how to think better by tracing critical thinking back to its core evolutionary survival mechanisms?

With over 35-years of experience in higher education, Steve founded the first academic office in higher education with a specialized focus on critical thinking. Author of America’s Critical Thinking Crisis, he has been featured on NPR, Fox News Radio, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Atlanta Journal Constitution, CBS Atlanta, The Hill, and a plethora of podcasts. Steve founded The Critical Thinking Institute and is a keynote speaker on critical thinking for businesses, universities, conferences, and the U.S. military. With over 40-years of experience, Steve is also a sought-after martial arts instructor for his unique theoretical approach to training. Most of all, he’s a devoted father, an endeavor which stretches his own critical thinking most of all.

Break and Continue are two reserved keywords in JavaScript that help us when trying to 'get out' of a loop, and we'll cover both in this tutorial.

Break, as the name suggests, breaks out of a loop at any given point, and Continue just tells the loop to 'skip' this particular iteration and carries on with the next one.

Hey guys, in this JavaScript tutorial I wanted to show you how to make arrays and how we store pockets of informations in them. Arrays can be (virtually) endless in the amount of pockets they can hold, certainly enough for any client side script.

The biggest indicator someone is using an array is the square bracket notation - [ ].

You can also create arrays using the 'new' keyword, but I prefer to use the square bracket method, just because it's quicker and easier to assign values straight away.

Michael Skok is a founding partner at Underscore VC, a Boston-based firm investing in bold B2B software founders. Since starting his first software business as a teenager, Michael has spent 21 years as an entrepreneur and the past 18 years as a venture investor. During this time, he has founded, worked with, and invested in startups, and created thousands of jobs and billions of dollars of value.

As an entrepreneur and an investor, Michael has focused on breakthrough technologies and disruptive business models including Open Source, Cloud, IoT, and emerging domains such as Blockchain, Virtual/Augmented Reality, and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning. He has served on or is active on many private and public boards such as Acquia, Demandware (now a Salesforce company), Mautic (acquired by Acquia in 2019), Salsify, and Zaius. He has also held leadership roles in many industry groups such as the Software Publishers Association, where he served as chairman for many years.

In 2015, Michael co-founded Underscore VC to help founders create enduring companies through the power of community. He has a passion for helping the next generation of entrepreneurs succeed by not only backing them with capital but bringing the resources and commitment of an aligned community around them to propel their success. To help achieve this, he has mentored and taught for over 10 years at Harvard University, where he is an Entrepreneur in Residence, and created the Startup Secrets series.

Hey class, so in this JavaScript tutorial I want to introduce you to the world of functions. Yep, I think you're ready for them :). Functions allow you to chunk parts of code together into logical sections, and call that code at any time. For example, you may have a function to cycle through all of your images on a web page, and implement a zoom functionality on the. You'd probably call this function something like imageZoom.

So, functions are a really cool and integral part of JavaScript, and something you should try and get into the habit of using early on in your JavaScript development, so that your code is always readable and tidy for yourself and other developers.

At first, functions in JavaScript can be a tricky concept, so by all means fire away with any questions you have down below :).
